10 Questions: Ronda Carman

10 Questions with Ronda Carman from All the Best — A Passport to Stylish Living:

1. As a native Texan what do you love most about living in Scotland?
The laid-back way of life. There just aren’t the same social and work pressures that you find in the States. Most Europeans work to live, they don’t live to work.

2. What do you miss most about living in Texas?
My family, sunny weather and Mexican food.

3. What’s your spring go-to dinner party menu?
Ellie Krieger’s Caramelized Onion, Mushroom and Gruyere Quiche. The crust is made with rolled oats and the filling is made with egg whites and evaporated fat-free milk. You will never miss the fat or calories! I like to serve it with salad and a bottle of Fumé Blanc.

4. What do you wish people would do more of décor-wise?
More mixing and less matching.

5. Who is your all time favorite interior designer?
David Hicks, who without a doubt turned English decorating on its head. His electrifying color combinations and use of antiques mixed with modern furniture and abstract paintings was sheer genius.

6. What’s your favorite place to shop online for home?
One Kings Lane, 1stdibs and Williams Sonoma Home.

7. What movie has the best interiors of all time?
I am crazy for the Drayton home in Guess Who is Coming to Dinner! It’s the one movie that I watch over and over again to see the rooms and stunning views.

8. Describe your perfect bedroom.
I love grayish blue walls with just a touch of green, set off with a beautiful bed, great linens, low lighting and tons of books. When it comes to bedding I only want white and I like to add color with decorative pillows. The more pillows the better.

9. What spring fashion trend translates best into home?
Prints and floral. Just as a printed skirt is an instant wardrobe brightener, a few new pillows or a recovered ottoman can breath new life into a room.

10. What’s your spring must-have from Tory?
That is a tough one. If the spring ad campaign doesn’t make you want one of everything in the collection, then what will? Tory Burch and Tina Barney are a match made in heaven. But, if I had to choose, the long Jana Caftan is seriously fabulous.
