The American Southwest’s wildflowers provide a bright counterpoint to its earthy, sun-faded landscape. For resort, we channeled this colorful contrast, painting our vibrant Wildflower print against dusky pink, soft white or blue. It’s the kind of print anyone can wear, whether just a hint of all over.

We love a great love story — especially when it’s in French. Un Homme et Une Femme — French for “A Man and A Woman” — is a beautiful classic film tracing the lives of Anne and Jean-Louis who fall in love with each other after tragically losing their spouses. This 1966 work seems stunningly realistic while showing understated intimacy — a truly chic must-see on Bastille Day.

Back when women were still referred to as “birds,” Michelangelo Antonioni filmed his art-house masterpiece Blow-Up. Inspired by a fictional murder mystery and the life of famed fashion photographer David Bailey, the 1966 movie can feel a little fantastical today, but it’s high style — both film- and fashion-wise — always looks and feels modern. Then there’s the dream cast: Vanessa Redgrave, David Hemmings, Jane Birkin, Veruschka and Sarah Miles. Birkin, Miles and Veruschka were part of a new generation of plugged-in models and actresses often referred to as “Birds of Britain,” recognizable by their glossy straight hair, eternal pouts and dewy, doe-eyes. While their title might be antiquated, their look is anything but dated.

Bright flowers, the beach, and dining al fresco — today is officially the first day of summer and we couldn’t be happier.

Tory just showed her new Resort collection to editors and everyone keeps asking about the pom pom and rope necklace with the unusual, large golden bead. Literally inspired by the textures of Santa Fe, it was cast from the skeleton of a Creeping Devil cactus spine that a design team member’s mother sent from her New Mexico backyard.

Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that make a difference. We asked model and filmmaker Christy Turlington Burns how she indulges when it gets too hot. “The occasional glass of rosé wine at lunch.” We’ll toast to that.

Last night, Lady Gaga received the CFDA’s Icon award. The very first winner, in 2002, was the unforgettable C.Z. Guest, the very epitome of grace, beauty and style. Here, in 1950, C.Z. wears a floral dress and cropped jacket by Mainbocher, one of her favorites along with Givenchy. While she was the perfect model for couture, she was just as often photographed in a plain white T-shirt and shorts or a romper. She was truly All-American.

Between the film fests and talk of summer blockbusters, we’ve got movies on the mind — especially the chic kind, like those from the French New Wave that gave us actresses like Jean Seberg, Catherine Deneuve, Anna Karina and Anouk Aimée. Aimée, above, brought a certain stylish savoir-faire to both her acting and her look in classics like A Man and A Woman and 8 1/2.

I love peonies most… for their scale! I love when they are fully open. I love big flowers.
When it comes to arranging them… a single peony in a glass is as beautiful as 12 in a group. They look best in a tight bunches, so they become this big ruffle of flowers.
To make them last longer… cut the stem in an angle every two days.

It’s official—snow day in NYC! With 19 inches of snow on the ground we wish we were someplace like Baker’s Bay Golf & Ocean Club in the Abaco Islands, Bahamas. It is literally a slice of paradise between its coral-pink sands, warm turquoise water and hundreds of nearby secluded and protected islands ready for exploring.

The design team’s trip to Rajasthan provided the inspiration for Tory’s resort collection. Think vibrant colors, rich prints and pops of neon.

We’re all aglow in the office today as we unveil our holiday windows, a Lite-Brite reindeer. “Lite-Brite was my favorite game as a child, and the colors perfectly capture the colors of Tory’s holiday and resort collections,” says window designer Zack Dobbins.

Artist Timothy Paul Myers created the reindeer using millions of Lite-Brite pegs. Here, Myers reveals how the reindeer were brought to life.

How many Lite Brite pegs were used?
Hasbro donated 2,025,000 pegs which were just enough to create the 46 reindeer.

What was the work process like?
We had a full production line. It took three weeks and 17 people.

How did it feel to finish?
After 4900 hours of work, the whole team waited around to see the last peg go in. I wish we had some fireworks to celebrate.
