For most, fall marks the start of leaves changing color, cooler weather and apple-picking. For New Yorkers, though? The season kicks off a new slew of buzzy restaurant openings, including foodie haven Dirty French, the newest addition to the Lower East Side’s Ludlow Hotel. We love the vibe — think Seventies flea-market finds with a European feel, leather banquettes, dark wood and the kind of lighting that makes everyone look 10 years younger. And we’re more than a little obsessed with the cocktails (try the Ludlow gimlet with gin and Crème D’Abricot Liqueur) not to mention the food (Parisian bistro by way of Africa, the Caribbean and New Orleans). But perhaps our favorite thing is the simplest: the flatbread with crème fraiche is the ultimate alternative to the usual boring bread basket served elsewhere.
