The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) re-opened its doors last month after nearly three years of renovations. Coincidentally the grand reveal directly coincided with Team Tory’s trip to Tokyo. We couldn’t help but wonder, did they open for us…?

To celebrate the much-anticipated reveal, MOT debuted with two concurrent exhibitions — Weavers of Worlds and Pleased to Meet You. The former examines Japanese contemporary art of the past century, displaying a diverse set of artists — from Kishida Ryusei to Izumi Taro — and highlighting a number of different styles and techniques. Pleased to Meet You exhibits 300 pieces of the museum’s newly acquired work, adding to its already extensive collection of some 5,200 items across a variety of different mediums, including painting, sculpture, fashion, design and architecture.

While the museum didn’t necessarily open for our trip there, it sure feels like it was curated with Tory Burch in mind…

東京都現代美術館は、先月末、3年にわたる休館を経てリニューアルオープンを迎えました。偶然にも、トリー バーチが東京へやってくるタイミングにぴったり。もしかして、合わせてくれたのかも…?と思ってしまうほど。
