To Do: Roger Kasparian at Snap Galleries

Resort 2014: Preview
“How do you take a Moroccan hat and a painting by Édouard Manet and make the combination work? Resort 2014 celebrates the spirit of the mix, where inspirations play off each other in different textures and prints. Painterly florals pair with jeweled embellishments; pleated chiffon, with a novelty hat motif, and raffia, with snakeskin-like leather. Accessories, meanwhile, have an equally feminine yet far-flung feel in patterned low heels, beaded straw bags and cutout cuffs.” — Tory
Street Style: Stripe Hype
Stripes are a summer classic — easy, casual, relaxed. But there’s a polish to the pattern too. The Lake and Stars designer Maayan Zilberman, for example, topped off a simple shirt-and-shorts combo with Tory’s raffia Elaina coat for an arresting look that feels both pulled together and fresh. She added a shot of playfulness, too, with contrasting polka-dot sneakers and bright red lips.
Tory On: Summer Stripes
Tory loves prints and patterns of all types, but stripes have long been a favorite of hers. Here, dressed in our Polina sweater, she shares her advice on how to wear and pair them.
Most Wanted: Magpie Sunglasses
As the Clash famously asked, should I stay or should I go? We say go — go away and travel, that is, or at least look the part. Whether you’re island hopping, road tripping or city bound, you can make a style statement with these standout Magpie sunglasses from our runway show. With its mix of graphic pattern and wood, they’re an easy — and unexpected — way to have fun with your prints.
Audrey Marnay On: Paris for Moms
Today is Mother’s Day in France so, to celebrate, we asked model, actress and activist Audrey Marnay for her guide to navigating Paris with the young ones. We all think of the City of Light as a romantic escape from the kids, but the mother of two shows us it’s the perfect place to explore with them as well. Here, discover the best spots for kid-friendly culture, eats and weekend getaways.
The Faherty Brothers On: Designing for Surf & Summer
If twins (and surf buffs) Mike, left, and Alex Faherty have one mission, it’s to own the summer experience with Faherty Brand, their debut line of print-happy swim and casual sportswear. To drive home that point, they’re even going cross-country this summer in a trailer-turned-pop-up boutique because, hey, if you can’t make it to the beach, Faherty’s going to bring the beach to you. Here, the brothers talked shop, sustainable fashion and even squeezed in a few surfing tips, too.
Recipe: Tory’s Weekender Cocktail
Before you escape for the long weekend, here’s a refresher to get you in the loose and languid laid-back mood. Dubbed The Weekender — no explanation necessary — the cocktail was custom-created for us by Forrest Butler, co-founder of Royal Rose organic artisanal syrups. Consider it your new beach or poolside accessory.
New on the Scene: Hot as Sun
Memorial Day is around the corner, the heat waves are coming, so what better time than now to turn the spotlight on a new band out of L.A. called Hot as Sun? The music trio — from left, Deborah Stoll, Jamie Jackson and WAZ — just released a debut album Night Time Sound Desire, a mix of sunny synth sounds and dreamy electro-pop-meets-hip hop. We talked to them here.
To Do: Ellsworth Kelly at The Barnes Foundation
Ellsworth Kelly is having a moment. Well, another one. In honor of the artist’s 90th birthday next week, a number of museums are spotlighting his work, among them The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. On display till September 2nd, Ellsworth Kelly: Sculpture on the Wall features his influential monochrome paintings (above) as well as the massive Sculpture on the Wall centerpiece, which is having its own milestone moment. Originally installed in the Philadelphia Transportation Building, it’s the first time the work has been back in the City of Brotherly Love since it was removed and brought to New York in 1998.

Tory’s City Guide: Mexico City
South of the border, down Mexico way, is where we’ve most recently fallen in love. Of course, Tory’s long been a fan — artists’ haunt San Miguel and Tulum, with its ancient ruins, are two of her travel favorites — but the current object of our affection? Mexico City, where we’ve opened up a new boutique in Antara Polanco. Here’s our travel guide to the city’s must-see, must-visit and must-eat spots, from the best place for mescal to Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul. We’re even throwing in our very own Mexico playlist to get you in the mood.

Tory’s Playlist: Mexico
There’s something magnetic about Mexico — from the culture scene in Mexico City to the beautiful ruins of Tulum to the vibrant art in San Miguel. The rich musical heritage runs deep, but there are also new sounds emerging that reflect how dynamic Mexico’s music roots are…and how much more there is to explore. To mark the opening of our boutique in Mexico City, Randall Poster put together this playlist for us.

Just take a close look at the work above — you’ll see an outline of an arm, shoulders…. Here, we chat with the artist herself.
Entrepreneur Talk: Terra New York
A stylish raincoat doesn’t sound like the most elusive of fashion finds, yet Marie Saeki and Yurika Nakazono recognized a void in the market and, in 2009, launched Terra New York, a collection of city-chic rainwear and waterproof accessories. We spoke to Marie, who also owns her own public relations firm, and Yurika about the line and got their business advice, too.
Most Wanted: Alexis von Viragh Jewelry
Alexis von Viragh is always looking for a new adventure. And on her travels, the Bangkok-based expat always collects good luck talismans, amulets and stones that she works into her signature necklaces. Alexis has crafted a capsule collection of necklaces that are available exclusively at our Madison Avenue boutique and on her own site. Here, we asked her about inspiration, superstition and style.
Ask Tory: The In-Between Wardrobe
Q: Some days, it’s warm. Some days, it’s cold. What do you wear in between seasons?
A: When the temperature could go either way, I rely on lightweight layers — especially if you’re in an office. I always have a tailored jacket that I can peel off or put on as needed. Right now, I love our Hayley jacket. It’s a light knit that feels like a cardigan but still has the right amount of tailored structure. I wear it with the Kyra polo. The scalloped pattern creates a cool optic and bold statement.
Curator Yasmil Raymond On: Beacon’s Dia Museum
Happy birthday, Dia:Beacon! Located in a former Nabisco plant on the Hudson River, the museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend — complete with special events, installations and free admission on Saturday. If you’ve never been, it’s where Richard Serra’s mammoth steel Torqued Ellipses sculptures are housed and where you can be surrounded, all 360 degrees, by Andy Warhol’s Shadows. Here, we spoke to curator Yasmil Raymond, who shared her advice on collecting, curating and…planning the perfect art getaway.
Spotlight On: Fitzgerald, Gatsby & Catherine Martin
F. Scott Fitzgerald has long been an inspiration for Tory, ever since her days of high school English Lit. With the recent opening of The Great Gatsby by Baz Luhrmann, Tory looks back on what she loved — and still loves — about this classic story. We also spoke to the film’s costume designer (and Baz’s wife) Catherine Martin and got her take on Daisy Buchanan, Miuccia Prada and Twenties fashion.
