Our summer playlists are still going strong, but heading into fall, the mix is bringing in something moodier, both old and new. We have teenager Raury’s “God’s Whisper” on repeat — smart lyrics, smart poppy melody (and smart video), and can’t wait for him to tour this fall. We’re excited Lianne La Havas’ sophomore album, Blood, is finally here, which stretches her jazz-meets-soul sound. But we don’t want to shake summer and its sunny vibes just yet. So — there are plenty of tracks courtesy of Brooklyn’s own Lucius, with their trippy harmonies and cheerfully oddball shows and videos; plucky, folksy beats from German troubadours Milky Chance, and more infectious melodies from Børns, Broods and Halsey. Meanwhile, we still have Paris on our minds and both DJ Klingande’s pulsing “Riva” and duo Brigitte’s eye- and ear-candy pop (in tons of gold lamé, no less) keep the French feelings alive. The best part: All these artists are touring Europe and the U.S. in the coming weeks and months.
