A former fashion vet, on the PR side, Alessandra Brawn Neidich captures an easy and elegant effortlessness in her style. Here wearing Tory’s jacquard coat, she shares some NYFW memories and styling tricks.
Clean classic meets downtown New York. I have a bit of a uniform: dark jeans with a silk blouse, or a little black dress. I also love a bit of delicate silk or lace as a first layer, to make a girl feel more feminine, womanly and confident.
And my personal styling tips…
Tailoring! And I love to look at inspiration photos before pulling together an outfit. Pinterest is great.
And when it comes to accessories…
Shoes and bags are definitely where I am a bit more of a risk taker. And I’m so fortunate to also have access to the best jewelry in the world, my mother-in-law’s label Sidney Garber. My favorite pieces are a pavé feather pendant necklace and a white gold cuff. Beyond the sentimental value, these pieces always make my outfit.
My very first fashion obsession…
Shoes! My father was the most fashion forward in my family, and I remember him taking me to Stella McCartney when I was 13 to buy my first pair of luxury high heels. What a mistake that was! I’ve been hoarding heels ever since…
Best style advice received…
Forget trendy, of-the-moment looks and invest in timeless, quality pieces that really work with your style. But also, don’t be afraid to take some risks and have some fun with your outfits.
My style influences and icons…
My mother-in-law Brooke Garber Neidich, Jane Birkin and, of course, Kate Moss.
I can’t wait for this heat to break so I may wear Seventies-style knit sweaters, lots and lots of suede, mini skirts and boots.
During this fashion week I’ll be…
Checking out all of the gorgeous new SS16 collections and dancing the night away with friends!
My favorite NYFW memory…
Attending my very first NYFW show, The Row. Mary Kate and Ashley really know how to put together the perfect, elegant collection.
Favorite spots for dinner during NYFW…
It’s hard to sit down to a long dinner over Fashion Week, but I do love sneaking off for sushi when I can.
And for a nightcap…
I’ll usually go to one of my husband’s places: Acme for the drinks and dancing, or Slowly Shirley, the new bar downstairs from The Happiest Hour. If I’m hungry, I’ll go to Tijuana Picnic for the best vegetarian tacos around.
What’s next for me…
I hope that my next project will be business school. But I’ve always dreamed of starting my own lingerie label. It’s still just a dream at this point, but the wheels are turning!
