Natalie Obradovich grew up in the sand and surf of Manhattan Beach, California. Later, she worked with interior pros Kelly Wearstler and Thad Hayes in Los Angeles and New York. When she struck out on her own, she wanted to combine both passions, creating beautiful photographs of water landscapes from her many far-flung trips, seen at her online gallery Nat en Voyage. Right before jetting off to Thailand this spring for another one of what she calls her “shoeless adventures,” Obradovich caught some R&R in Miami, where she photographed some her favorite spots for Tory Daily. Here, she wears Tory’s Jessica Cardigan, Costa bandeau and bottom and takes us through the images in the slideshow.
1. “Miami Beach has become one of my favorite places to visit over the years. After years of bitter New York winters, escaping to Miami became a priority! There’s something about the energy of Miami that is different from most other places in the country. In the past couple of years the city has changed dramatically with the explosion of the art scene. You can see incredible art, eat incredible food, and swim in some of the bluest water around.”
2. “After so many years coming to Miami, I have always been drawn to photographing the bright colored umbrellas. I think I have almost every color of umbrella on the beach photographed!”
3. “Walking down Collins under all of the palm trees with the old Art Deco hotels and swaying trees makes you feel like you’re in another time.”
5. “I love all of the different bright colors of the lifeguard stations on the beach — they are an iconic part of the beach! Miami is the perfect destination for me to shoot. I’m attracted to taking photographs that are so bright and happy.”
