Picasso, Georges Pompidou, Fort de Brégançon and Saint Tropez… Read our interview with Assistant Curator Anunciata von Liechtenstein. #ToryTunic
My style is…
Natural, elegant, romantic with Austroalpine influences.
First fashion memory…
My mother’s garderobe. As a little girl, I watched her every preparation as she got ready for a soirée in a long evening-gown.
I love a great tunic because…
It’s effortless, elegant and feminine all whilst being comfortable.
My tip to styling/accessorizing a tunic…
A great pair of flats and a large pair of cuffs.
My favorite beach getaway in the world…
Cabasson, a tiny hamlet in Var, France, situated in a natural reserve facing Les Îles d’Or, about 40 minutes away from Saint Tropez. My mother’s family has a property there, which is literally on the beach, and we spend all our summers there with a bunch of cousins and friends.
And my recommendations on what to do/eat/see there…
The Fort de Brégançon is a worth a visit. Built on a small island it dates back to the Middle Ages. It then served as a Presidential summer retreat, having been renovated and furnished by Georges Pompidou and his wife Claude. Taking a boat to go see the surrounding islands is also a must. One should definitely stop by the Island of Port-Cros. It is a national marine reserve and one can do great scuba diving. The fortifications built under Cardinal Richelieu are beautiful and one eats amazingly at Le Manoir, which has a beautiful garden and terrace overlooking the sea. Otherwise most of the port villages such as Saint-Claire have traditional seafood restaurants overlooking the sea that serve great bouillabaisse, a traditional Provençal fish stew. For a more active nightlife Saint Tropez is not too far a drive…
My bohemian icon…
Bianca Jagger — because of her original and timeless style and her natural elegance.
The color I most love…
Blue, simply because it reminds me of the sea and summer.
My backstory is…
I have always worked in the arts, researching and curating, first for museums, then for art publishing house Cahiers d’Art and now working on independent projects. Based between Paris and New York, I am currently assisting on a Picasso retrospective in Rome. The exhibition will mark the centenary of Picasso’s trip to Rome and Naples with Cocteau and the Ballets Russes. One aspect of the exhibition will concentrate on his set designs and costumes, which I am particularly excited about. A parallel ballet project is also in the works.
