She’s a jewelry designer with two companies under her entrepreneurial belt, Finn Jewelry and Billy! He’s a filmmaker with a popular YouTube account — over six million subscribers and counting. Together, Candice Pool Neistat and Casey Neistat are one helluva creative couple. With Valentine’s Day here, we talk to the power duo about how they met and what keeps them going.
We have been together since…
Candice Pool Neistat: 2005.
Casey Neistat: That’s an impossible question. Married: three years. First date: 12 years ago. First break up: 11.5 years ago.
Our best date was…
CPN: A trip to Home Depot in Queens to get tiles for his backyard. The truck ran out of gas, but he was a hero. I was totally in love.
CN: That time in Las Vegas when the hotel room was covered in broken glass the next morning.
Best gift received from him/her…
CPN: The first time I celebrated a birthday with Casey, I woke up to balloons, streamers and a couch full of presents perfectly wrapped. The presents didn’t even matter — the gift was feeling like the most special person in the world to him at that moment.
CN: That time she agreed to be in my video (and then the other 600 times she agreed to be in my videos).
What we like to do together…
CPN: Talk and talk and talk. So much talking. Serious stuff and silly stuff. We are chatterboxes together.
CN: Early morning runs, SoulCycle, spot each other at the gym.
What we don’t like to do together…
CPN: Work out. I don’t like to, but he is a fitness fanatic.
CN: Anything constructive
The first time I saw him/her, I thought…
CPN: Who IS this guy?
CN: I bet I could convince this girl to marry me…
The memory I most treasure from our wedding…
CPN: His excitement. He was so happy the whole time. It was really sweet.
CN: Wandering into the police station (in Cape Town, South Africa, where we were married) just before midnight to get an officer to sign our marriage certificate (a requirement in S.A.).
