Meet the stylish blogger behind Double3xposure, Reese Blutstein, who is quickly climbing the ranks as a fashion favorite. Here, the Atlanta native — who’s also a pro at creating moods boards — talks shop with Tory Daily on everything from personal style tips to her grandmother’s hand-me-downs.
I was inspired to launch Double3xposure…
Around this time three years ago! I wanted to create a style diary and I gave myself a goal to photograph my outfit every day and I haven’t stopped since!
The inspiration behind the name…
At first it was going to be with my twin sister (but she went away to school) so we named it Double3xposure like the technique in photography where you expose two pictures overlapping to look like one photo.
I’d best describe my style as…
Structured and simple but not plain, feminine with a hint of masculinity.
First fashion memory…
Trying on all my grandmother’s clothes with my sisters and putting on runway shows every time we would go to her house.
The top three rules in the Reese Blutstein Style Guide…
1. Make sure you feel comfortable. 2. Don’t buy something unless you can see yourself styling it multiple ways. 3. Pants and shoes are most important.
And when it comes to accessories…
Mix chunky gold rings with dainty gold rings and substantial gold earrings. Oh, and also belts. You can use anything as a belt. Shoelaces are my favorite belt.
And my top winter style tip…
Lots of layers! And really cute socks to wear with all your shoes.
To create a good mood board…
You need to have good music to help inspire a good mood board!
Most sentimentally valuable piece in my wardrobe…
A red short-sleeve wool turtleneck sweater that my grandmother bought when she was 16. She bought it for $40 dollars at Macy’s, which was a lot of money back then, but she knew it was worth the money and it’s still in pristine condition. It just reminds me that investing in nice pieces is always worth it because you will still have it in 60 years.
