Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Beyoncé and Rihanna are household names. Journalist Lisa Robinson has interviewed them all. In her latest book Nobody Ever Asks Me About The Girls: Women, Music and Fame, Robinson explores four decades of conversations — more than one thousand interviews — with some of the most talented women musicians in modern history. Robinson paints never-before-seen portraits of her subjects and gives readers a behind-the-scenes look into the music industry.
To celebrate the launch of her book, Tory Daily asked Robinson to create a playlist inspired by Nobody Ever Asks Me About The Girls: Women, Music and Fame. “There is no way I could pick one favorite performer,” says Robinson. “Even if I were to list ten, it would be an incomplete list.” Who are we to set a limit? Below, nearly four hours of music from women artists, spanning genres and decades.
