The founder of Chris Pitanguy Fashion & Luxury Consulting gives us her insider guide to Rio.
Rio style is…
A blend of sophistication, simplicity and beach-town vibes. I always say a pair of Havaianas paired with a designer handbag is our real essence.
My style is…
Classic with a twist.
My go-to look…
It’s a simple, understated look, though that depends on where I go. If it’s a beach place, I wear denim shorts and t-shirts or lightweight cotton dresses as well as flats, a bikini and sunglasses. If it’s winter, then I team skinny jeans — my everyday uniform — with a t-shirt and a leather jacket.
Best shopping neighborhood…
I live in Ipanema, two blocks from Shopping Leblon, which is where I love taking a walk and going shopping. I also enjoy walking along Garcia D’Ávila, a sophisticated street where I find the Brazilian brands I most love: Arezzo, A. Brand, NK Store and Schutz.
If you only had 24 hours in Rio…
Spend the day on Ipanema or Leblon beach and then have lunch at Bira, a very famous seafood restaurant at the end of Recreio neighborhood. Or go to Angra dos Reis, the most stunning beach place in the world, by helicopter. (It’s a two-hour drive or a 30-minute flight from Rio.) Afterwards, have dinner at Sushi Leblon and stay for the night at Hotel Fasano. If you have more time, have breakfast by the hotel pool and enjoy its outstanding view of the city.
On the weekends, I like to…
Invite friends to lunch. I also love spending time with my husband and children, watching movies, listening to music with them…and I like having nothing to do as well.
My favorite local holiday getaways…
Angra dos Reis is perfect for New Year’s celebrations, Trancoso for vacation, and I like Búzios in the winter.
