Yesterday evening, the Met Gala returned to its legendary First Monday in May slot after taking place this past September. The event celebrated “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” the final installment of the Costume Institute’s two-part exhibition where, among countless other incredible designs, our Cotton Poplin Wrap Dress from the Spring/Summer 2022 collection is on view.
Some 400 event-goers boldly embraced the evening’s dress code, Gilded Glamour, including Tory’s guests Sydney Sweeney, Kerry Washington and Adwoa Aboah. The three inspiring women turned heads in custom dresses, designed and hand-finished in our New York atelier. Sweeney — Tory Burch’s new brand ambassador — looked positively regal in a white dress with a sheer geometric corset, draped taffeta skirt and glitter tulle overlay. Mid-red carpet, the actress transformed her look by removing the taffeta skirt to reveal a modern-feeling mini dress. Washington stunned in a black silk chiffon gown with a sheer tulle corset and tulle draping at the shoulder. And Aboah was pretty in pink wearing a bustier gown with a Swiss dot tulle overlay and hand-embroidered polka dots. Playing to the theme, the model and activist also wore a silk faille cape with puffed sleeves, hand-rolled black satin bows and a Swiss dot tulle overlay.
