Tory’s starting point – the essence of sport – played out in elements borrowed from fencing and martial arts as well as an exploration of the body and how it moves.
Gym Class Heroes
There was the subtle influence of sports and the way athletes move. Structure and fluidity meet in tailored jackets and louche cotton pants, riffing on elements seen in fencing and martial arts, while lean racer-back swimsuit and snug knits play off robe-like dresses.
Bodies, Bodies, Bodies
Seaming and draping follow the lines of the body, highlighting the power and grace in how it moves. Belts gently wrap the waist of blazers and jacquard is sculpted to look like it’s floating away from the body. Featherweight jersey chiffon curves and dips in balletic femininity.
Who Wears the Pants?
We all will this spring, with so many great options on the runway. Long and lean tailored trousers play with texture in quilted cotton and flecked wool. A sporty counterpoint: drawstring waists and seaming details on louche pants in cotton jacquard, seersucker and featherweight suede.
Pattern Play
A desire for strangeness plays out up-close. A traditional toile de jouy motif on a pencil skirt features alien faces amid bucolic flora and fauna. Another pattern – a graphic motif of abstracted swimmers – echoed the show set of a runway lined with aqua green pool tile.
