The founder of Roopal Patel Consulting and fashion front-row staple shares her NYC life and style tips for the season.
My style is…
Feminine with a twist.
And my style mantra is…
If I have to think about it too much, I do not wear it. Fashion should be fun and easy. Not too trivial.
Best style advice I ever received…
My mother said, ‘Green and pink can be worn together!’ She always wore bright saris with bold color combinations when she would get dressed up to go out. I think my love of wearing bright colors and prints comes from my mother.
I am wearing…
A Proenza Schouler t-shirt over Tory’s Chelsea dress. I love the mid-calf length and how full the skirt is. It feels new to me. And my accessories: Bangles from my travels to Goa and Punta Del Este, beaded jewelry from Poupette in St. Barts and Azzedine Alaïa suede sandals.
The key to wearing yellow…
Treat it like a neutral. It does not matter how pale, deep or bright the shade is. Pair it back to other neutrals (gray is my personal favorite) or pair it back to a bright color, such as pink or electric blue. There are so many options when you treat it like white or camel. Much more fun that way.
A perfect day in NYC…
A leisure day of brunch with friends somewhere downtown, exploring new shops and strolling through different areas in or outside the city. Williamsburg and Dumbo have great shops and restaurants. A quick yoga or spin class and then dinner with friends at a local favorite restaurant. I love going to Fat Radish, Minetta Tavern, Bar Pitti or Indochine.
My favorite place to grab a drink with friends…
Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle Hotel. It feels very New York to me.
My sign is…
Capricorn. I was born on January 1st.
