It all began with $200 and a dream… and they ended up building an empire. When they first started Juicy Couture, Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor modeled their own designs, drove their own delivery trucks and only had one rule: whatever they did, they both had to like it. “We never had a business plan,” they recalled. “We did [everything] with our own creativity and hard work and often by the seat of our pants. We just wanted to create something people would love and a work environment that would make us happy. That’s our version of the American Dream.” The entrepreneurs and designers, together with fashion critic Booth Moore, tell their story in the new book The Glitter Plan — part memoir, part how-to. And they’ve already started their next chapter: launching a new line, Pam & Gela, earlier this year.
