With the holiday party season around the corner, we asked makeup artist Diane Kendal — the beauty pro behind Tory’s runway looks as well as those of countless other shows — to share her top tips for the season. Here, she details three separate looks using Tory Burch Beauty.
1. Colorful Smoky Eye
The Look:
An easy smoky eye — with color, which makes this a really fun way to do a holiday look. Keeping the rest of the face nude keeps you from looking too done up.
The Tutorial:
Start by lining your lash line with a soft black pencil. Stop about 1/4 in to the inner corners, and smudge with a small brush or your fingers. Use Noir Eye Shadow from the new Marrakech Eye Shadow Palette, making sure to tap the excess on the back of your hand, and go over the eyeliner, blending the color up onto your lid and slightly above the crease, and bring the color onto your lower lash line as well.
Using a clean brush, use Dune shadow to blend the edges of the black, keeping everything soft. Then use your finger to press the Atlas shade onto the center of the top of your lid, and you can use a small brush or your ring finger to smudge a bit of the blue underneath your eye as well.
Add Dune to the inner corners of your eyes to highlight and add dimension. Curl lashes and add a couple of coats of black mascara to top and bottom lashes.
Leave eyebrows natural; only fill in gaps if you need. This keeps it from looking overdone, and the focus is on the eye.
Pas du Tout Lip Color is a really beautiful nude pink shade that’s universally flattering. Use your fingers to press the color into your lips and cheeks. It’s nice to keep everything nude, and this gives you a little bit of color while keeps it looking fresh.
The Finishing Touch:
Once complete, spritz a hint of fragrance. Absolu Eau de Parfum, Tory Burch’s newest fragrance, is a great way to make a statement this season. The boldly sophisticated fragrance is the perfect finishing touch for every look.
2. Soft Cat Eye with Red Lip
The Look:
A softer version of a traditional cat eye with a little bit of contouring and a festive matte red mouth.
The Tutorial:
Start by using Dune from the Marrakech palette all over the lid and bring the color slightly above the crease. Using a small brush, softly work Paillette from the Pas du Tout Palette into your crease and focus the color on the outer corners of your eyes. Bring a tiny bit of this color to the lower lash line as well.
Use a black gel or cream eyeliner to create a soft wing beginning 1/4 of the way out from the inner corner of your eye and gradually getting thicker towards the outer edge. This will keep the focus on the outer edge of your eye and create lift.
Dip a small brush into Jolie Laide and softly smudge over the black eyeliner. Add black mascara to the top lashes only, adding a couple extra coats to the outer lashes.
Fill in and define eyebrows softly.
Use the bronzer from the Tory Burch Bronzer & Blush to dust under the cheekbones and slightly up onto the temples, and use the highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones.
Swipe on a few coats of Scoundrel Lip Color. Blot in between layers and at the end to create a beautiful matte red. If you want, you can dust a transparent powder through a tissue on top of the color to make it even more matte.
The Finishing Touch:
The classic Tory Burch Eau de Parfum is perfect to pair with this look.
3. Monochromatic
The Look:
A warm burgundy monochromatic look with soft gold highlights. Keeping the overall look soft keeps it from looking dated and the gold highlights are perfect for the holidays.
The Tutorial:
Start by using Menagerie, from the Pas du Tout Eye Shadow Palette, across the whole lid up to the brow bone, add Beau from the same palette close to the lash line and blend onto the lid and add a tiny bit to the lower lash line as well. Next, use the Jolie Laide shade, a dark chocolate brown, into the lashes both top and bottom and smudge to soften. Dip your finger into Paillette and press the color into the center of your top lid and do the same thing with Gamine and add to the inner corner of the eyes. Skip mascara on this look — it keeps it looking fresh.
Fill in brows very softly using feathery strokes to thicken slightly.
Mix the blush and bronzer color from the Bronzer & Blush and dust over apples of cheeks and up to temples.
Mix Knock on Wood and Tomboy Lip Colors and gently press the color into your lips to create a soft stain.
Use the highlight from the Bronzer & Blush and dust over cheekbones, above eyebrow arch, down the center of the nose, cupids bow and chin.
The Finishing Touch:
Complete this look with Absolu Eau de Parfum.
