And my secret styling trick…
I love to mix prints. But you sort of need to do this consciously. You need to find a common ground between the prints, which is usually a shared color schematic. It’s all important to find clean lines in the clothes and accessories if you’re using a lot of pattern and color.

First fashion memory…
Sneaking into my mother’s closet and trying on her clothes. I particularly loved a navy blue wrap halter dress with ruffled trim and white polka dots that I was able to cinch onto myself. I also loved doing makeovers with friends when they came over to play and I had a tendency to put on all of my grandmother’s costume jewelry at once when she visited us. So I was sort of maximal from the beginning.

Best fashion advice ever received…
Know your body and what looks best on it. Do not adopt trends that don’t work for your body shape. If you have a wide rear end, low-rise tight jeans don’t work for you no matter how badly you want to wear them. I feel like this advice needs to be posted on billboards throughout America.

I love a great tunic because…
It’s major impact with minimal work. You don’t need to think of a whole coordinated outfit. The single piece is the outfit. I also love that they can go from morning breakfast to evening cocktails without changing.

My tip to styling/accessorizing a tunic…
It’s all about the flat shoe. Unless you’re going to a super-fancy evening. But even then, I love an elegant jeweled flat at night, especially when you’re anywhere near a beach. It’s also fun to layer tunics over other dresses or pants. To move from day to night, all you need to do is add jewelry and make up. My favorite beach getaway in the world…
It’s got to be Il Pellicano in Porto Ercole. It’s a pain in the neck to get there from Milan, but once you set foot on the property, you’re transported instantly into a sea-side paradise with lush, beautiful landscaping.
