Video: The White Shirt, 3 Ways
A quick roll of the sleeves, an easy change of shoes and our Murphy shirt is primed for any occasion. A classic white shirt with a special touch — tonal embroidery on the collar and cuffs, inspired by vintage lace from Tory’s home — it’s always at the ready. All you have to do is choose: How will you style it? Above, we show you our favorites.
Getaway: Heather Taylor’s Tulum
Sand, surf, sun… Mexico’s coast is calling us. For direction, we turned to L.A. In Bloom lifestyle blogger and Taylor de Cordoba Art Consulting co-founder Heather Taylor, who sources much of the inspiration for her brightly embroidered Heather Taylor Home collection south of the border. Here, she guides us through the musts of Mexican beach town Tulum — the hotspot which also happens to have been her honeymoon spot.
Word of Mouth: InStyle’s Best of Digi
The World Wide Web turned the big two-five last week and, to mark the occasion, InStyle magazine announced its annual Best of Digi list and… we’re on it! Thank you, InStyle, for naming us one of the top designer sites you’re “swooning for.” To see the rest of the Internet’s Best Of — including entertaining and foodie guides — head on over to the full list of winners here.
Look We Love: Margaret Zhang’s Pattern Play
Navy and white is one of our go-to classic combinations, but we also love seeing it in high-contrast pattern play. Sydney-based Shine by Three blogger Margaret Zhang, here wearing Tory’s Gina tunic, Callie pant, Sadie slingback and Jane clutch, shows us how mix mastery is done — it’s all a matter of print scale. She finished the look with subtle accents of leopard, red and metallic, for a bold pairing of pattern and color that leaves a lasting impact.
Street Style: Bohemian Ease
Two Tory tunics, two chic (and totally different) looks. Could I Have That’s Samantha Hutchinson went minimalist in Morocco, pairing her lightly embellished Tory tunic with breezy wide-leg pants and sandals. Meanwhile, in the second slide, Gal Meets Glam’s Julia Engel hit the sand in that classic and always stylish combination: white jeans and a colorful tunic — in this case, the T-Print tunic from Tory’s Tunic Collection for Saks Fifth Avenue.
Book of the Week: California Surfing & Climbing in the Fifties
Imagine a time when the surfing community was so small, most surfers worldwide knew each other on a first-name basis. Bikinis were high-waisted and swim trunks skimmed the tops of thighs. Riding the California waves was akin to exploring the Wild West. It was the birth of an era — and California Surfing and Climbing in the Fifties, from T. Adler Books, captures the pioneers in action.
Street Style: Blair Eadie’s Tunic Time
Sun and stripes — what better combination is there? Hat tip to Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific, here wearing the Kirsten tunic from Tory’s exclusive Saks Fifth Avenue Tunic Collection while on vacation in warm Winter Park, Florida. Paired together with a classic red lip, beachy chapeau and tortoiseshell shades, the look is laid-back yet refined. In fact, it even channels the tunic’s original inspiration: the relaxed elegance of the French Riviera in the Sixties.
Spring 2014: Accessories Lookbook
Calling all accessories lovers. We’ve compiled this season’s must-have accessories in one easy (and easily bookmarkable) spot, from blush-colored bags to metallic heels. First up, meet the Fleming — our new handbag collection, right, which combines ladylike quilting and chains for a polished, pulled-together look.
Getaway: Ana Lerario’s Côte d’Azur
Designer Ana Lerario does double duty. Not only is she the creative brains behind the Lerario Beatriz collection, but she’s also the Owner and Founder of New York’s Fiftytwo Showroom, which represents a cool roster of fashion talent, including Richard Chai, Timo Weiland and Jo De Mer’s Amalia Spinardi. So where does this busy Brazilian go when she needs to get away from it all? Ana brings the family — her husband, menswear designer Robert Geller, and their two kids — to the Côte d’Azur. We chat with Ana about that favorite escape.
Pinterest: Tory Tunics
For Tory, it all started with a tunic she found in a Parisian flea market. The silhouette reminded her of something her mother and grandmother had worn in the Sixties and Seventies, and it became the inspiration for one of our first designs. That was 10 years ago and, since then, there have been many more tunic highlights. We compiled them in one place on Pinterest — our tunics, the tastemakers who’ve worn them and, of course, our favorite tunic inspirations.

Getaway: Mimi Xu’s Phuket
Wafts of coconut, daiquiris, boating excursions… sounds like a slice of heaven — and Mimi Xu has found it in Phuket. Here, wearing Tory’s Kirsten tunic from the Saks Fifth Avenue Tunic Collection, the London-based sound designer and DJ gives us her getaway guide to the island.
Looks, Decoded: Tunics

About Last Night: The Barnes Foundation Dinner
It was a New York art world moment — about 90 miles south, give or take, in the leafy environs of Philadelphia. On Wednesday evening, Tory co-hosted a dinner at the Barnes Foundation, where she’s a new board member, to shine a spotlight on the institution’s storied collections and some newer exhibits, like Yinka Shonibare’s Magic Ladders show. Here’s your exclusive glimpse at the event — which included guests such as Jeff Koons, Vito Schnabel and Simon and Michaela de Pury— and keep reading to learn what Dr. Samantha Boardman (who was a co-host with Salon 94 gallerist Jeanne Greenberg-Rohatyn) has to say about the night and her personal art obsessions…

Playlist: The Grand Budapest Hotel
Wes Anderson’s latest film The Grand Budapest Hotel opens today. Starring Ralph Fiennes and F. Murray Abraham (among many others), it’s a lush visual escape to the fictional Eastern European nation of Zubrowka. There are stolen paintings, a mustachioed concierge, pink-packaged pastries, an octogenarian countess (played by, yes, Tilda Swinton), bobsleds, butlers, inmates… The soundtrack is no less richly layered and captivating. Listen to it now on Spotify and keep reading to get the playlist and discover the backstory behind it all.
10 Minutes with an Entrepreneur: Fiona Kotur
Congrats to Fiona Kotur! You know her for her chic clutches and minaudières, but the Hong Kong expat just launched a collection of shoes — wonderfully exotic and fantastical shoes inspired by hanging gardens and the gypset life. Here wearing Tory’s Vanessa jacket, Fiona talks about first shoe loves and shares steps every entrepreneur should take.
Tory Entertains: The Swizzle
The Swizzle is an old-fashioned drink that’s beloved by Tory’s parents and brothers. It’s also the name of one of our new lip colors, a reddened plum with a delicate sheen. Here, the recipe for the classic — which comes not shaken or stirred, but swizzled with a wooden swizzle stick — straight from the home of the rum swizzle, Bermuda’s The Swizzle Inn.
Video: 12 Distinctive Shades
From pinky nude to scarlet, shimmery plum to pink, our new lip colors span a spectrum a dozen strong. Here, filmmaker Robert Nethery goes in for a close-up. Make one your signature — or collect them all.
Behind the Names: The Lip Colors
What’s in a name? Plenty, if we’re talking about our new Lip Color Collection. Keep reading to discover the backstories behind each and every shade, from Pas du Tout to Swizzle, and how the dots connect back to Tory’s personal history.
Carlos Souza On: Carnaval
It’s Carnaval! Here, Brazil native Carlos Souza — who’s Creative Director of the Most Wanted Design jewelry line — tells us what the splashy, no-holds-barred festival is like in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
To Do: Alex Katz at Thaddaeus Ropac
Alex Katz’s new exhibit in Paris opens today at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac’s outpost in Pantin, in the city’s northeast quarters. It’s a deep dive into his oeuvre in portraiture, with some hundred works dating back 45 years — from his outsize paintings to his aluminum cutouts, iconic works to the lesser-known sketches. For those in the midst (and madness) of Paris Fashion Week, the exhibit offers the perfect cultural escape. Not in the City of Light? You can still soak in the Brooklyn artist’s intense colors and deceptively reductive style; he currently has a show at Mattatuck Museum in Connecticut and another opening at London’s Timothy Taylor Gallery in three weeks.

Entrepreneur: Out of Order’s Dorian Grinspan
Everyone stateside is buzzing about the Oscars, but over in Paris, the spotlight is very much on Paris Fashion Week. Here, we chat with French native Dorian Grinspan — who founded Out of Order magazine while still a student at Yale; he graduates this year — about his own PFW memories. Plus, he shares his advice about the startup life.
