Memorial Day is around the corner, the heat waves are coming, so what better time than now to turn the spotlight on a new band out of L.A. called Hot as Sun? The music trio — from left, Deborah Stoll, Jamie Jackson and WAZ — just released a debut album Night Time Sound Desire, a mix of sunny synth sounds and dreamy electro-pop-meets-hip hop. We talked to them here.
Ellsworth Kelly is having a moment. Well, another one. In honor of the artist’s 90th birthday next week, a number of museums are spotlighting his work, among them The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. On display till September 2nd, Ellsworth Kelly: Sculpture on the Wall features his influential monochrome paintings (above) as well as the massive Sculpture on the Wall centerpiece, which is having its own milestone moment. Originally installed in the Philadelphia Transportation Building, it’s the first time the work has been back in the City of Brotherly Love since it was removed and brought to New York in 1998.

Q: Some days, it’s warm. Some days, it’s cold. What do you wear in between seasons?
A: When the temperature could go either way, I rely on lightweight layers — especially if you’re in an office. I always have a tailored jacket that I can peel off or put on as needed. Right now, I love our Hayley jacket. It’s a light knit that feels like a cardigan but still has the right amount of tailored structure. I wear it with the Kyra polo. The scalloped pattern creates a cool optic and bold statement.
Happy birthday, Dia:Beacon! Located in a former Nabisco plant on the Hudson River, the museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary this weekend — complete with special events, installations and free admission on Saturday.
